In this report the economic factors which will determine the prosperity of London to the end of the century are outlined. Firstly, a summary of the Henley Centre's forecasts for the UK economy to 1995 are given. The determinants of London's prosperity: employment, impact of Europe, tourism, and factors affecting company location are outlined. These are examined in more detail for London, in terms of: labour supply, proximity of consumer markets; transport infrastructure; commercial prosperity; and perceptions of quality of life in London. Finally, London's national and international competitors are highlighted, and forecasts made for urban development in the 1990's.
