EXPONENTIAL FORMULA FOR OPTIMUM BLOCK COEFFICIENTS OF VARIOUS TYPES OF SHIPS
The new proposed formula has been calculated with the aid of a computer program and data of about 200 ships of various types built in the last decade. The formula found by regression analysis is purely empirical. As it has been mentioned, the available Cb formulae are mainly functions of V/square route of L and a few of them also functions of L/B. However not only V/square route of L and L/B but also B/T affect the resistance of ships and consequently the fuel costs and the most economical choice of Cb. Thus the effect of B/T has been included in the proposed formula.
