DEVELOPMENT AND DEMONSTRATION OF A LOW COST WEIGH-IN-MOTION SCALE SYSTEM FOR HIGHWAY APPLICATIONS
Report on the work and results of a joint program undertaken to develop a highway weigh-in-motion system based in piezoelectric sensor technology. Piezoelectric cables were tested at a site provided and prepared by the Saskatchewan Dept. of Highways and Transportation. A full scale system was installed for testing and demonstration purposes at a site on Highway 7 in Toronto. Evaluation of the prototype system has been ongoing for 10 months and will continue for another 12 months.
