One of the problems associated with some early types of inert-gas systems has been the carry-over of soot, while equipment employed in the system has often incurred a heavy electrical load. To combat these and other disadvantages found in early systems, a new inert-gas system has been introduced which is based on a scrubber unit which employs foam to clean the gas. The system is described, with an explanation of how the system operates. The various system components are also described, as are full-scale tests which have been performed.
