CATHODIC PROTECTION OF DOCK STRUCTURE - HIGH MAINTENANCE FORCES DESIGN CHANGES

Cathodic protection systems are designed to provide continuous protection. The design usually is the result of an economic tradeoff among initial installation cost, protection from physical damage, and accessibility for repair and maintenance. The cathodic protection system for a bauxite unloading dock recently had to be replaced as a result of significant physical damage and deterioration. The new system including the rectifiers and materials used, as well as how the system operates for each section of the pier, is described.
