An entirely new type of offshore terminal for Lash ships, to be located off the coast of Bangladesh, has been designed and is being constructed. The design is based on the use of four Sarus towers to which the Lash ships are moored in position offshore while their barges are loaded and unloaded. Descriptions are given of the tower configuration, along with advantages it has over conventional mooring systems, and a seabed wave breaker, which will be used to break hazardous waves in inclement weather.
