TRIAXIAL TEST FOR COARSE BITUMINOUS MIXTURE USED IN FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT ROADBASES

ENSAYO TRIAXIAL PARA MEZCLAS BITUMINOSAS GRUESAS DE BASE NEGRA

The marshall test cannot be used satisfactorily to measure the real stability of coarse bituminous mixtures used in flexible pavement roadbases. The triaxial test gives accurate data but takes a long time to carry out, is costly and not satisfactory as a routine test. A simplified method of conducting the triaxial test is to perform the latter in a closed cell on a double sample. This gives complete data on the stability of the bituminous mixture, by establishing a relation between cohesion, the angle of internal friction, and stability of the mixture. The number of the covering abstract of the annual meeting is 100980. /TRRL/
