STUDY OF THE LAWS OF FATIGUE FAILURE OF CONCRETE SUBJECTED TO BENDING STRESSES

ISSLEDOVANIE ZAKONOMERNOSTOJ USTALOSTNOGO RAZRUSHENIYA BETONOV PRI IZGIBE

Results are given of measurements of strength, modulus of deformation and coefficient of energy absorption, carried out during long-term repetitive loading tests. The concept of the physical limit of the fatigue of concrete, limit situated between the stable and unstable deformations of the concrete subjected to loading cycles, is formulated. A distinction is made between 3 zones characterized as follows by: (1) the rapid development of cracks and sudden failure; (2) appearance and slow development of fatigue cracks; period of temporary consolidation; (3) a consolidation process which constantly diminishes; deformations become stabilized and cracks do not appear. /TRRL/
