THE PROBLEM OF THE EXHAUST FUMES FROM DIESEL ENGINES IN UNDERGROUND GALLERIES
LE PROBLEME DES GAZ D'ECHAPPEMENT DES MOTEURS DIESEL DANS LES GALERIES SOUTERRAINES
It is recalled that all exhaust fumes are dangerous, unless treated or eliminated according to safety requirements. They cause special problems in underground galleries. Diesel engines are most often used in underground construction work, and this article deals more specially with them: nature of exhaust gases, use of ventilation to maintain toxic gases at non-dangerous level, consequences of insufficient ventilation, and treatment of exhaust fumes. /TRRL/
