MARINE REHEAT DEVELOPMENT AND ITS FUTURE

This paper is based on sea experience with seven ships fitted with reheat plant (plus three ships on order). Existing steam conditions for marine reheat plant are 520 degrees C and 98 bar but with advanced design of auxiliaries this can be increased to 540 degrees C and 174 bar with improved fuel consumption. Reheat plant is the most practical way of reducing the effect of soaring fuel prices.
