WESTAC WORKSHOP SUMMARIES. MAY 1975

In 1974 a Task Force was created within the Federal Ministry of Transport for the purpose of reviewing National Transportation Policy. In keeping with its role as a catalyst to work toward an improved transport system in the Western Region, WESTAC hosted a working Conference in Saskatoon from May 26th through 28th, 1975. The purpose of that Conference was to provide a forum for the development of Western inputs to new National Transport Policy being devised by the Federal Government. At the invitation of WESTAC, approximately 100 senior level decision-makers of the Western Transport system met in face-to-face round table discussions to consider transportation policy under five separate subject headings. This document presents the results of those discussions and deliberations, in the form of five Workshop Summary Reports. These reports have been produced by the Workshop Discussion Leader and Rapporteur assigned to each Workshop. The five Summary Reports attempt to present the consensus or majority views, opinions and positions of those who participated in each Workshop. They should not be interpreted as representing official policy on the part of either WESTAC or any of its member firms and organizations. /RTAC/
