TECHNICAL VEHICLE INSPECTION AS A CONTRIBUTION TO ROAD SAFETY

TECHNISCHE KRAFTFAHRZEUG-UEBERWACHUNG ALS BEITRAG ZUR STRASSENVERKEHRSSICHERHEIT

One of the many prerequisites for road safety is to be able to guarantee good condition of vehicles at any time. In order to achieve this objective, most countries have a vehicle surveillance system. The purpose of a study on technical vehicle surveillance, which is part of a larger study on road safety, is to illustrate and critically analyse the knowledge obtained using the various systems of surveillance. Both studies form part of the working programme of the NATO Environmental Committee. The conclusions drawn from the preliminary study should enable vehicle surveillance to be optimized. This report surveys the state of the work in the preliminary study. The covering abstract for the conference is IRRD Abstract No. 208556. /TRRL/
