DEVELOPMENT OF OILY WATER SEPARATING SYSTEMS FOR SHIPBOARD USE
Design features and capabilities of systems developed by the USCG, capable of meeting U.S. national and international requirements for oil-water separators, filters, and monitors, are described. The systems are comparatively small, lightweight, and inexpensive. Filter-coalescer systems can be applied successfully aboard all but heavy-fueled ships. Regulations concerning oil pollution and legal requirements for ships are discussed.
