SWEDISH EXPERIMENTAL SAFETY VEHICLE PROGRAM. STEERABILITY DURING EMERGENCY BRAKING. SIMULATION. VALIDATION OF MATHEMATICAL MODEL

During the validation the following principles are followed: the tyre model is validated by comparisons with measured tyre-road data, the models of the anti-lock systems are validated by comparisons with manufacturers data and with measured wheel and brake pressure characteristics, and the model of the total vehicle with specified tyre and anti-lock system is verified by comparisons with field test results. During the model developing period simulations have been compared with results from field tests. This continuous procedure has led to improvements and refinements basically in the anti-lock system models and the tyre models. The simulations are well in accordance with the corresponding field tests and the model is considered valid for maneuvers used in the Swedish esv project, viz. Panic braking during steering on horizontal and homogeneous surface. /TRRL/
