ROAD SAFETY OF CHILDREN IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

In the United Kingdom 90 per cent of road accidents resulting in death or injury to the younger school age group (5-9 years) occur when the children are crossing the road or cycling. The report describes activities aimed at reducing the numbers of such accidents to children by road safety education, training, propaganda and the provision of crossing facilities as well as some of the research carried out to evaluate and to improve the effectiveness of these measures.
