RATIONALE FOR THE REGULATION OF INTERSTATE MOTOR CARRIER NOISE
This paper analyzes the rationale behind the federal regulation of interstate motor carrier noise. At highway speeds, tire noise is frequently predominant. At low speeds, engine-related noise is predominant. The effects of both these noise sources are considered. The question of enforceability of the regulation is also discussed. /SAE/
