REPORT TO THE NATION ON THE MANAGEMENT OF METRIC IMPLEMENTATION
This publication reviews the status of metric legislation, educational activities, the metric influence on engineering standards, foreign trade implications, metric practice, antitrust measures, and the experiences of countries now converting to the metric system. The bulk of the report describes the current metric planning and implementation in five major sectors of the U. S. ecomony --engineering industries, building and construction, materials, consumer products, and education and industrial training. Even in the absence of a definitive federal metric policy, progress is being made across a broad spectrum of the U.S. economy toward voluntary metric implementation.
