BRISBANE TRAFFIC STUDY . NATIONAL TRANSPORT CONFERENCE; TRANSPORT FOR THE USERS; MELBOURNE, 23-25 MAY 1989; PREPRINT OF PAPERS
The brisbane traffic study was initiated to consider alternative transport strategies of brisbane city and suburbs, to and beyond the year 2000. The study includes the development, evaluation and documentation of a range of transport/land use strategies and associated policies and projects. Public consultation is a major feature of the study. The study consults with representatives of the road users, the transport union, private developers, market researchers, the university and institute of technology. In addition, an intensive attitude and opinion survey has been carried out to determine the perceived needs of the residents of brisbane. Group discussions have also been held with representatives from industry, professional and lay groups. The paper discusses features of the design and organisation of the study which make it unique. The results of work on transport/land use strategies and public attitudes, which set the framework for more detailed analysis, are reported (a). For the covering record of the conference, see IRRD no 814837.
