SOME EXPERIENCES LEARNED FROM THE DESIGN PRACTICE OF BADALING TOURIST HIGHWAY

Badaling is one of the strategic passes through the great wall and is an internationally famous tourist attraction. Wherever the natural and traffic characteristics of this area permit, all traffic except for tourist traffic is diverted to other roads. This means that a lower standard can be used for the tourist highway in order to protect the natural scenery. Many measures of protecting historical relics and natural scenery in the design are presented in this paper. (a) for the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD abstract no 823365.
