ENVIRONMENTAL GAINS FOR RESIDENTS ON A MAJOR TRUCK ROUTE . NATIONAL TRANSPORT CONFERENCE; TRANSPORT FOR THE USERS; MELBOURNE, 23-25 MAY 1989; PREPRINT OF PAPERS
This paper addresses problems faced by residents on a major arterial road -pascoe vale road. The project identified low cost 'private' treatments such as widened splayed driveways, indented parking and vehicle turnarounds within private properties to assist individual householders in their interaction with the road and its vehicles. Identification of the appropriate private treatment required a house by house approach and major input from the householders. About 40 individual treatments have been completed to date. The project has provided real environmental benefits for the residents (a). For the covering record of the conference, see IRRD no 814837.
