FACILITIES IN TRANSFERIA. TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT POLICY BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN AREA, TO AN INTEGRAL APPROACH ON REGIONAL LEVEL. TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COLLOQUIUM 1989, THE HAGUE, NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 1, 1989. VOLUME II

VOORZIENINGEN IN TRANSFERIA

As mentioned in the "structuurschema verkeer en vervoer II", the concept of the transferium is one possible method for reducing private car use. A transferium will stimulate public transport, enabling it to compete with the car in speed and the level of comfort. To reduce the resistance of this transfer a transferium should be highly comfortable and useful. The usefulness of a transfer in a transferium is mainly determined by the possibility to use facilities in order to save trips and time. The survey will deal with the facilities which are possible in a transferium. These are: (1) which facilities are desired by the consumers? (2) given a certain usage, which facilities can be operated on a commercial base? (3) which facilities can be part of a transferium, regarding land use policy? (4) what other constraints are there that might prevent a transferium from working? For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 825702.
