DETERMINATION OF DETERRENCE FUNCTIONS FOR INTRA-REGIONAL TRIPS, BASED ON "RESEARCH MOBILITY BEHAVIOUR" (OVG)-DATA. BEPALING DISTRIBUTIEFUNCTIE VOOR INTRAREGIONALE VERPLAATSINGEN OP BASIS VAN "ONDERZOEK-VERPLAATSINGS-GEDRAG" (OVG)-GEGEVENS

At the transportation research laboratory of Delft university of technology, a study has been performed to determine reliable deterrence functions for intra-regional trips, based on national travel survey (ovg) data for 14 urban areas. The weighted multi proportional Poisson model has been used to estimate the deterrence functions. The deterrence functions are estimated for four different transportation modes in combination with four classes of car ownership. The analyses show that the deterrence functions for each group of car ownership resemble the deterrence functions for the total group. Furthermore it can be concluded that, within a class of car ownership, the differences between the four transportation modes are much larger than between the four classes of car ownership for each transportation mode. Finally it appears that the steepness of the deterrence function will decrease when the mean distance increases. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 825702.
