EFFECTS OF ABOLISHING THE TAX REDUCTION FOR COMMUTERS AND ALL THAT GOES WITH IT. TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT POLICY BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN AREA, TO AN INTEGRAL APPROACH ON REGIONAL LEVEL. TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COLLOQUIUM 1989, THE HAGUE, NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 1, 1989. VOLUME II
EFFECTEN VAN HET AFSHAFFEN VAN HET REISKOSTENFORFAIT E A
Fiscal facilities for commuters will be abolished in the Netherlands to improve the use of public transport. Therefore the income of the commuters will decrease by a few hundred Dutch guilders per year dependent of the distance between home and work. Possible alternatives include car pooling, the free public transport season ticket given by employers, organization of business transport, leasing, the use of the bicycle etc. The money from these fiscal facilities will now be used by national government for their environmental policy. The abolishing of these fiscal facilities will hopefully encourage people to change their method of transport. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 825702.
