ANALYSIS OF NON-MONOTONIC CUBICAL TRIAXIAL TESTS WITH AN ELASTO-PLASTIC KINEMATIC HARDENING CONSTITUTIVE MODEL. NUMERICAL MODELS IN GEOMECHANICS. NUMOG III. PROCEEDINGS OF THE 3RD INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM HELD AT NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA, 8-11 MAY 1989
A series of cubical triaxial tests conducted in a uniform medium sand from the bottom of itaipu lagoon, near Rio de Janeiro city, Brazil, is discussed in this paper. Most of the tests consisted of a primary loading, unloading and reloading with a stress-path different from the one used on primary loading. The purpose of these tests was to investigate the deformability characteristics of that sand under these circumstances. Some of the tests were conducted in the rendulic plane and others in an octahedral plane. The paper describes the triaxial cell, the experimental results and analytical results obtained with an elasto-plastic non-associated constitutive law that uses a kinematic hardening rule (poorooshasb and pietruszczak, 1985 and 1986).(a) for the covering abstract of this conference see IRRD 824029.
