VISCOPLASTIC MODELLING OF TIME-DEPENDANT BEHAVIOUR OF CLAYS. NUMERICAL MODELS IN GEOMECHANICS. NUMOG III. PROCEEDINGS OF THE 3RD INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM HELD AT NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA, 8-11 MAY 1989

In this paper predictive capabilitites of the proposed flow surface model of viscoplasticity for assessing time-loading history effects in normally consolidated clays are discussed. Numerical simulations for the undrained triaxial tests have been performed to examine the strain rate history effect and the stress relaxation and creep history effects. Comparisons between predicted and experimental results show that the proposed flow surface model can predict the time-loading history effects in normally consolidated clays which attribute to the viscoplastic strain history.(a) for the covering abstract of this conference see IRRD 824029.
