HIERARCHICAL LOGIT MODELS: A NEW SOFTWARE PACKAGE. 14TH AUSTRALIAN TRANSPORT RESEARCH FORUM, PERTH 20-22 SEPTEMBER 1989; FORUM PAPERS. VOLUMES 1 AND 2
Many transport demand problems involve discrete choices such as travel mode choice, choice of destination, type and number of automobiles. In some cases these choices can be satisfactorily described by a multinomial logit model but in other cases a nested structure is required to avoid model restrictions. This paper presents a new, extremely user friendly computer package for both microcomputers and mainframes which uses a full information maximum likelihood technique (fiml) to jointly estimate hierarchical logit models. It also estimates single stage multinomial logit and ordinary least squares regressions quickly and efficiently (a). For the covering record of the forum, see IRRD no 822808.
