UTILIZATION OF THE ADVANCED TRAIN CONTROL SYSTEM (ATCS) IN A COMMUTER AND URBAN TRANSIT ENVIRONMENT. 1989 RAPID TRANSIT CONFERENCE OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC TRANSIT ASSOCIATION HELD IN PITTSBURGH
This paper presents an implementation scheme and describes the ATCS benefits that might be realized by applications to commuter and urban transit systems. The benefits addressed include enhanced safety and traffic control and real-time monitoring of train location. The Advanced Train Control system was developed as a joint venture of the Association of American Railroads (AAR) and the Railway Association of Canada.
