STAR-ANALYSIS. PATTERN-RESEARCH OF CYCLE TRAFFIC WITH PERSONAL COMPUTER GRAPHICS . CONFERENCE PAPERS ON THE WORKING DAYS ON TRAFFIC ENGINEERING 1989
STER-ANALYSE. PATROON-ONDERZOEK VAN FIETSVERKEER MET DE GRAFISCHE PERSONAL COMPUTER
This article describes a method that investigates transport patterns of bicycle traffic using personal computer graphics. This system uses maps to illustrate transportation patterns in a manner that is easily understood by both layman and expert alike, thus making direct policy making easier. An example of such an application is the illustration of the consequences of a policy decision to group the routes of desired pedestrian destinations along a main bicycle path. The method provides information about:-(a) the most dangerous areas of roads with respect of bicycles crossing pedestrian paths; (b) the shape, size and location of "30 km/hour restricted residential areas"; and (c) the urgency to eliminate missing links in either bicycle or lorry route networks.
