TRIP GENERATION ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT . CONFERENCE PAPERS ON THE WORKING DAYS ON TRAFFIC ENGINEERING 1989

RITPRODUCTIE OPENBAAR VERVOER

Little research has been carried out in the Netherlands to ascertain the path of the actual trip generation within the public transport systems in medium sized cities. The aim of this paper is to gather empirical figures (for instance the number of trips per inhabitant) in order to improve forecasting for bus line diversions and network extensions in city-areas and city regions. A wide range of criteria is available for this evaluation. This paper presents new figures taken from the Delft bus system, divided into four levels: (a) by modal split; (b) by city; (c) by residential area and (d) by bus stop. Some figures have been compared with scores of other Dutch medium sized cities. (TRRL)
