CURRENT AND FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS . URBAN TRAFFIC CONTROL WORKSHOP, 14TH ARRB CONFERENCE, CANBERRA, AUGUST 1988
This paper gives an outline of the development of scats, the Sydney co-ordinated adaptive traffic system to meet the needs, initially, of the department of main roads and how development has been affected by the increasing user bases. The possibilities for future development of traffic control systems in general are discussed together with an appraisal of the forces, ie, technology advances and the market place, which will guide such development.
