HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE

This book sets out details of the design and construction of each part of the roads's structure, together with an account of the technical and managerial issues that can arise in maintaining highways. Design codes have been incorporated into charts and tables to illustrate many of the recent advances in highway engineering and to eradicate the need to refer to highly specialised literature which is not generally available. Chapters are included on: a) highway construction materials; b) pavement foundation; c) flexible bases and surfacing; d) rigid pavements; e) block paving; F) specialist pavements such as temporary or light duty roads, and small element paving; f) highway drainage; and G) maintenance.
