TSING YI NORTH BRIDGE: CONSTRUCTION. PROCEEDINGS OF THE INSTITUTION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS

This paper describes the construction of the tsing yi North bridge which is a 1015 m long four-lane prestressed concrete road bridge with piled foundations crossing and providing navigational clearance over the rambler channel in Hong Kong. Of particular interest is the construction of the main pier piles and pile caps and the in situ balanced cantilever super-structure of the main crossing over the rambler channel. Tests were carried out to determine the characteristics of the 50 mpa concrete for use in deflexion calculations for the main crossing.(a) for abstract of the bridge design see IRRD 823414.
