THE DRIVERS OF ROAD PLANT

MENNESKET I VEGMASKINEN

In this project, plant has been evaluated from the standpoint of the operator, and the conditions which chiefly affect this group have been assessed. The principal conclusions are: (1) reduction in costs and increases in productivity can be mainly achieved by greater motivation of the operator; (2) in order that this greater motivation and thus optimal plant operation may be achieved, work must in future concentrate on the following: (a) plant operator must participate in the broader dialogue between manufacturer and user, one of the aims being to clearly specify users' wishes and requirements regarding technical design; (b) training on plant group concerned must be improved; (c) the internal operational/administrative conditions must be improved So that plant operator is involved in goal setting, job planning and implementation. The report states in conclusion that it is not only a matter of external demands on manufacturers regarding improvement of the working situation of plant operators, but internal changes in work form and organisation must also be made to the same extent in order that the potential of the plant operators may be utilised to a greater degree.
