THE EFFECTS OF SILENCER DESIGN ON THE DRIVING CHARACTERISTICS OF TWO-STROKE MOTORCYCLE ENGINES
UTICAJ KONSTRUKCIJE PRIGUSIVACA BUKE NA POGONSKE KARAKTERISTIKE DVO-TAKTNIH MOTOCIKLISTICKIH MOTORA
The article describes a wave reflector design in the form of a double perforated cone. It has been tested in the exhaust systems of the 125 ccm engines manufactured by the Minsk, Lavov and Riga factories in the USSR, and the 50 ccm engines manufactured by Tomos of Koper, Yugoslavia. The results show that the new wave reflector design is more efficient, increasing the power of two-stroke engines and decreasing noise by 5 to 6 dB in the high-frequency spectra.
