ENVIRONMENT AND TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT BETWEEN THE STRUCTURESCHEME ON TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT (SVV) AND THE NATIONAL PLANNING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT (NMP)
MILIEU EN VERKEER TUSSEN STRUCTUURSCHEMA VERKEER EN VERVOER (SVV) EN NATIONAL MILIEUBELEIDSPLAN (NMP)
Motorized traffic is the main source of air pollution in the Netherlands. There are almost 6 million motor vehicles, and about 90 milliard vehicle/kilometres, which cause an enormous total emission. Road traffic is the source for carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and carbon hydrogen. It is possible to decrease this emission by making the catalysist in the exhaust system of vehicles mandatory; by decreasing the car use; by improving public transport; by increasing bicycle use and by introducing another policy regarding parking, road pricing, cost, mobility etc. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 824432.
