SCENARIO FOR A TREND-BREAK IN THE TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT SYSTEM
SCENARIO VOOR EEN TRENDBREUK IN HET VERVOER- EN VERKEERSPROBLEEM
The extensive use of cars poses a serious threat to the environment. This paper examines the feasibility of a passenger traffic system which provides both sufficient mobility and is less harmful to the environment. The results of the study show that technical improvements of cars are insufficient to solve the problem. Therefore in order to improve matters there must be a radical change in transport mode, from private car to public transport and bicycle.(a) for the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 824432.
