JOINT SEALING IN CONCRETE

LA SIGILLATURA DI GIUNTI NEL CALCESTRUZZO

Vynon hydrotite cj-type is a mixture of synthetic rubber and hydrophile resin which, in addition to strength and elasticity equivalent to normal vulcanized rubber, possesses a high expansion capacity upon the absorbtion of water. The product has been particularly successful in the sealing of joints between the lining segments of tunnels, due not only to its increase in volume in the presence of water, but also to its considerable deformability, adapting to the variations and settlement of the lining. Details are given of the physical, mechanical and chemical characteristics of the product, and its application is described and illustrated. (TRRL)
