MANAGEMENT OF THE EVALUATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

LA GESTIONE DELLA VALUTAZIONE DI IMPATTO AMBIENTALE

A comparison between alternative scenarios shows that the weighting of the strategic objectives (socio-economic, natural-aesthetic-cultural, perceptive-historic-cultural) results in significantly different appreciations of the environmental values, which would serve as input to the programming of territorial management. It is shown that on the same stretch of motorway, the values of total impact and the number of significant impacts can vary greatly in function of the evaluation scenario applied. The visualization, by means of photomontage, of a proposed minimum impact solution for a highway project, is illustrated. (TRRL)
