SURVEY OF MOTORWAY TRAFFIC NOISE
INDAGINE SULL'INQUINAMENTO ACUSTICO DA TRAFFICO AUTOSTRADALE
An analysis of traffic noise indices points out that such indices should not just refer to the traffic noise, with a given frequency spectrum and variability characteristics (speed, volume, percentage of heavy vehicles, gradient etc) relating to the traffic itself; they should also permit objective measurements which can be used as a basis for regulations relating to anti-noise measures. This article attempts to fix maximum acceptable noise limits for an inhabited area flanking a motorway. The limits vary in relation to the types of buildings: hospital, residential, semi-industrial, and industrial. (TRRL)
