PROBABILISTIC DAMAGE ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURES
A simplified analytical approach to assess the vulnerability of structures subject to earthquakes is presented. In the approach presented, total uncertainties including randomness and modeling error are quantified by evaluating uncertainties in pertinent parameters that define the earthquake structure system. Nonlinear time history analyses are carried out explicitly to generate statistics of struuctural response. The fragility curves are generated for 5 limit states representing various degrees of structural damage due to earthquakes, and a reinforced concrete shear wall structure is used to illustrate the methodology.
