PRESTRESSED SLENDER LATTICE FRAMES
This research determined the effect of prestressing the diagonals on the behavior of a relatively slender lattice frame with intersecting diagonals when the frame is subjected to axial load, and then to axial and lateral loads. It was found that a relatively slender prestressed frame has a different mode of failure than the single-bay, 3-story frames tested previously. It was also found that prestressing the diagonals is beneficial. It was found possible to get as much as a 36% increase in horizontal load when the axial load is held at a constant value.
