CLASSIFICATION OF MARINE SEDIMENTS. DISCUSSION
This is a discussion of a paper of the above title by I. Noorani published in Vol 115, No. 1 of this Journal. It is noted that nonrecognition of foundation problems in marine carbonate seidments, during the early stage of a project, is more often due to inadequacies in the classification system, and that the proposed classification adds little to the need for a comprehensive system to properly recognize problem carbonate soils. The discussion is followed by a closure by the authors.
