GEOSYNTHETICS: HELPING MOTHER NATURE
Geosynthetics are becoming an invaluable construction aid with ever increasing uses. They can change soll from one state to another (from wet to dry, soft to hard). They are mainly used for separation, reinforcement, filtration, drainage, and obstruction or retenion of moisture. A general definition for terms such as geotextiles, geomembranes, geogrids or geomatrixes, geowebs, and geocomposites is given as well as case studies of various applications of geosynthetics.
