AN ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFECTS OF ROAD FREIGHT TRANSPORT REGULATIONS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
Regulations are introduced to correct the effects of certain existing distortions but may cause new distortions and cause inefficiency as a result. Productivity measures of the trucking industry have been compared between regulated and non-regulated systems from developing countries. The study clearly indicates that the measures are strongly influenced by the institutional structures.
