ERGONOMICS AND TRAIN TICKET VENDING MACHINES

Discusses the evaluation of the useefulness of the train Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) Autelca B100. The machine is in use in the Central Stations of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht. One of the main questions in the investigation was, In what way passengers notice the presented information? Four visual properties are discussed: written, instruction, flash coding, visual distance and contrast. The general conclusions are that there were a lot of problems concerning perception, cognition and memory and that these problems can easily be solved.
