TRANSPORTATION CHARACTERISTICS OF CONVENIENCE STORES WITH GAS PUMPS
This paper documents traffic generation rates and other factors relating to the transportation characteristics of convenience stores with gas pumps. The study methodology included machine traffic counts at 10 convenience stores for a 3-day time period. It also included conducting interviews at 6 of the sites. Details of the data collection are described and the results are discussed. It was found that the daily traffic generation rate documented for the average store with gas pumps in this study is slightly lower than the daily generation rate for convenience stores without gas pumps as documented in ITE's 'Trip Generation.' These and other conclusions drawn from the study are presented.
