TRANSPORTATION IN ATLANTIC CANADA - A CARRIER'S VIEWPOINT

The paper explains the basic problems facing the Canadian National Railways in the Atlantic region. The nature of the organization and the objectives are discussed. Freight rates, regional disparity, physical distribution, energy crisis, environment, intermodality; the combining of two modes of transportation - road and rail, future highways and the benefits derived from them are all discussed. /RTAC/
