SPECIFICATION FOR GROUND INVESTIGATION WITH BILL OF QUANTITIES

This specification is intended for general use in ground investigation, for contracts of any size. The emphasis has been on encouraging carefully designed, good quality work. Sections are provided on: general requirements; boring; rotary drilling; pits and trenches; sampling and in situ testing; groundwater observations; daily reports; laboratory testing; reporting; and instrumentation. Standpipe installation and protection is discussed in the appendices. An associated bill of quantities is presented with the specification. The specification relies heavily of compliance with good practice as set out in BS 5930 (see IRRD 258496).
