NOMINATIONS FOR THE ANWB TRAFFIC SAFETY AWARDS 1990. THE SELECTION OF CITIES CONSIDERED FOR THE ANWB TRAFFIC SAFETY REWARDS 1990

NOMINATIES VOOR DE ANWB VERKEERSVEILGHEIDSPRIJSZEN 1990. HET SELECTEREN VAN GEMEENTEN DIE IN AANMERKING KOMEN VOOR DE ANWB VERKEERSVEILIGHEIDSPRIJZEN 1990

To improve the interest for traffic safety on a local and regional level and to stimulate the traffic safety policy the Royal Dutch Tourist Union ANWB has introduced a bi-annual traffic safety award for local authorities. The ANWB will also present this award in 1990 to a number of local authorities. The procedure is the same as in 1986 and in 1988. The Dutch Institute for Road Safety Research SWOV has selected a number of local authorities on the basis of a favourable development of the traffic safety. These are the nominations. The ANWB makes the final selection. The following data are collected about all communities during 1984-1988: (1) the population as of January, 1 each year; and (2) the number of traffic fatalities, traffic injuries (all or not in the hospital) on roads which are administrated by the local authorities. The local authorities are then classified into five classes according to their population. For a more detailed information of the selection and comparison method used see IRRD 803343.
