PRACTICAL APPROACH TO THE INTRODUCTION OF ALTERNATE AUTOMOTIVE FUELS

Current automobiles with minor mechanical changes (including a novel fuel tank) and an advanced closed-loop computer-controlled fuel and ignition management system can facilitate the introduction of alternate fuels, particularly methanol, while simultaneously providing higher efficiency and lower emissions. An economic evaluation is given, and areas needing further research and development are discussed.
